I've been realllly busy. New job, university, family issues etc. Long story short, I have a new camera.

Predawn white light

This was a long exposure taken just as the sun rose on an awful rainy day. It's not the greatest photo I've ever taken, I was playing with a new tripod and remote shutter.

Haircuts and lolz

Kas cut my friend Angie's hair. Angie thought it would be amusing to use the hair as a moustache. I was amazed by how well the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 performs in fairly low light. Fun was had by all.

Abandoned

This is an abandoned artists' studio, it's starting to be reclaimed by the wilderness. Unfortunately it was very late in the day when I got there so I really struggled to get a decent shot. Next time I'm up that way I'll hopefully have something a bit more interesting for whoever it is that keeps reading this :)

Owl Eyes

Bad Light and Negi Vibes

I thought I was going to take some pictures of The Shakes tonight, but the light sucked... worse than the metro. Also I was getting some major negative vibes and had already been lashed by some 'photographer'

I did get one nice picture though.

Fairy Lights

I've been doing club work recently. It's alright, and I've definitely got some good shots but I probably shouldn't put them here. Instead here are some fairy lights Kas bought today.

Adventures.

I went for a wander around my parents house recently. I really like the first picture because it punnnished me to get the colour balance right. When I first looked at the RAW file I felt like I had totally screwed it up because it was super orange. A little work in lightroom sorted it nicely though.

Second and third pictures are just experimenting with light and the way it works when coming through narrow openings.

No make up, no retouching.

Girls, you don't need make up to look fantastic. Photographers, you don't need to retouch to get nice photos. If you're really concerned just overexpose a little bit.

P.S - It helps when the subject is really pretty sans makeup.

Moonlight

I thought I'd just post this quickly as a reminder to myself - and anybody unlucky enough to be reading this - that you are only limited by your creativity; don't let a lack of gear stop you from taking an interesting shot.

Anyways. I had been staying at my parents house, it was 11pm and the moon was very bright so I figured I'd do some long exposures. Unfortunately I didn't have a tripod handy so I ended up proping my camera up on a brick wall. I think it turned out okay, although I would have liked for the stars to show up a little brighter. Maybe one day I'll photoshop it some.

Abstract

I'm kind of getting interested in patterns, and abstract geometrical stuff, it almost always looks better in black and white.
This was harder to get right than you'd think. It was late in the day and I didn't want to have any shadows or anything.  I wish I had a macro lens.

Landscape and still life

I went for a bit of a wander around my parents house the other day. Some of this will look familiar but I've taken this with much better gear and hopefully a little more understanding about composition etc.

 Got a new lens. It's surprisngly sharp at f/2.0

Shakes again.

 The metro has the most godawful lighting I've ever encountered. Black and white is pretty much the only option.  Got a couple of good shots, I only really like the first two though.
